NHRA Full Throttle Series Drivers Q&A
Brandon Bernstein, driver of the Budweiser / Lucas Oil Top Fuel Dragster - [On racing in all four lanes at zMAX Dragway] "I doubt that's going to happen. The only reason why I say that is because it would be a crew chief nightmare. Because all the lanes would be totally different, if you've got oil down in one, who gets to choose what other three lanes they have or whatever. Logistically, for us, I don't think that would work too well, just because the crew chiefs would have to put a bid up for what lane they had and everything. Realistically, maybe somewhere down the road, but I doubt that will ever happen for us."
Jack Beckman, driver of the Valvoline / Mail Terminal Services Dodge Charger Funny Car - [On winning the inaugural event at zMAX Dragway] "I think sometimes on Sunday we've got four rounds of eliminations, and ‘it's hurry up and wait' a little bit and hurry up, and it's pretty fast paced throughout the day. It didn't really dawn on me until we went up to the winner's circle that it was an inaugural race. And that's awesome because there are a lot of anniversary races for different events, but there's only one first, and, to get to say that, especially the state of that facility. I think that what was maybe the coolest thing for me - being a west coast guy - is to come out and run in the marketplace out here with a lot of people that it was their first time coming to an NHRA national event. They're all motorsports fans, and they're all die-hard NASCAR fans, and I don't think you need to compare or pick one above the other. I think they both have some pretty awesome things to offer. But to get to expose the sport that we're passionate about to new folks and know that they are going to come back and see us again was awesome."
Del Worsham, driver of the Alan Johnson Al-Anabi Racing Funny Car - "When I joined this team at the end of last summer, when I found out our sponsorship was leaving us and I had to go out and find a job, Alan Johnson...I had heard some rumblings about the fact that he was going to build his own team, and I ran right over there right away and said, ‘Look I just want to interview for this job.' Because of his credentials, the things he's done in the sport, you know I'm not surprised he's done this well this fast."
