Coca-Cola 600 Pit Note #3
Charlotte Motor Speedway Pot-Luck Dinner – Charlotte Motor Speedway hosted its “Pot-Luck Dinner” for campers Tuesday night, May 25, at the pavilion at zMAX Dragway. One hundred people – mostly campers staying overnight at the speedway – enjoyed good food and entertainment and swapped recipes. This was the second such dinner hosted by the speedway. There was a similar get-together in October during the Bank of America 500.
“I think this crowd was a bit livelier than last year’s,” said Ann Robinson, director of camping services at Charlotte Motor Speedway. “We’re looking at some things down the road to make the event more fun for more people. We think it’s something our campers need. I think a lot of people came just to taste the cooking of Melissa and Keith [Woelffer of Fort Mill, S.C.]. They did all the cooking.”
Donna and Dave Thomas and Sharril and Barry Thomas – of Kingston, Ontario, Canada – drove 16 hours just to participate in the dinner.
“We had such a good time in the fall; we had to come back,” said Donna Thomas.
“We look at it as a new and interesting way to engage our best customers,” Adrian Parker, director of communications at Charlotte Motor Speedway, said of the event.
