Campground Wedding at Charlotte Motor Speedway – If you are looking for a different activity to attend on Friday at Charlotte Motor Speedway, a wedding is scheduled to take place for two race fans. The ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. in Tom Johnson’s Peninsula Campground located at the back of the speedway off I-600.

Linda Kellogg, of Mount Holly, N.C., will wed Greg Waters from Richmond, Va. They will spend their honeymoon in the campground before returning to work on Monday. Kellogg is employed at the Iredell County jail. The couple actually met here last May, and Friday will be the one-year anniversary of that meeting. The two newlyweds won’t get to sit together for the Coca-Cola 600, though, as Kellogg’s tickets are located in the Diamond Tower Terrace and Waters’ are located in the Ford Grandstand.

Motor Racing Outreach (MRO) has helped the couple and offered the services of their tent for the ceremony. Kellogg said the folks at MRO have gone way beyond the call of duty in decorating the tent and helping the couple prepare for the big day.

Charlotte Motor Speedway officials noted they don’t get many requests for a wedding ceremony in the campground areas. This is perhaps only the third or fourth time it has occurred in the past 15 years.
