Dash 4 Cash – Nationwide Insurance is putting more money on the line for this year’s version of the Dash 4 Cash in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, officials announced Thursday in the Charlotte Motor Speedway Media Center. Four eligible NASCAR Nationwide Series drivers will compete for $100,000 in each of four races this season: Daytona (July 1), Iowa (Aug. 6), Richmond (Sept. 9) and Charlotte (Oct.14).

“We’re not out there to race for the money, but with sponsorship the way it is, every dollar helps,” said NASCAR Nationwide Series driver Justin Allgaier, who won a component of last year’s Dash 4 Cash. “With them upping the ante, I think that says a lot. This is a step above and beyond what they could do.”

Eligible drivers will be determined by points: the top four heading into Daytona will compete for the money. The highest finisher will receive that race’s $100,000 allotment, as well as automatic eligibility for the next Dash 4 Cash race. The three highest finishing drivers to collect Nationwide points will also be eligible for the next race’s bonus; the same qualifying procedure will be in place for the final two races.

If a driver wins the first three allotments of the Dash 4 Cash and wins the Oct. 14 NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Charlotte, that driver will receive a $600,000 bonus, pushing the total money available in the Dash 4 Cash program to $1 million.

“There’s a lot of money on the line for these guys,” NASCAR Senior Vice President of Operations Steve O’Donnell said. “We think it creates a lot of new storylines, and the competition is already great.”

There will be a fan component as well, with an additional $100,000 going to one lucky fan, which will be detailed in the future.
