NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race Pit Note #13
NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race Quotes:
Carl Edwards (WINNER, No. 99 Aflac Now Hiring Ford): [About postrace celebration that tore up his car] That was a pretty big accident. [What was the key to winning?] The key to winning this race was the guys behind me. That’s all the pressure in the world on these guys. I feel so bad about tearing up the car, but [crew chief] Bob [Osborne] says he has a faster one for next week.
Kyle Busch (2nd place, No. 18 M&Ms Toyota) We came up a little bit short, but we got beat by a faster car. The best we could have done was something on a restart. [Carl Edwards] was just so good through the corners. At least now we know what it takes to win one of these things. Maybe we can get it next year. We didn’t have enough at the end. We made a slight adjustment. We knew we weren’t going to make up all the speed we needed. We got beat tonight on speed; unfortunately, we were just second best. [Was Carl going into corners better than you?] When he passed me for the lead he drove it five car lengths further than I could in turn 3. It sucked. His car just had a lot of front grip in it, and they did a good job with it.
David Reutimann (3rd place, No. 00 Aaron’s Dream Machine Toyota) We didn’t start all that good because … well … we just didn’t start very good. But we kept plugging away and plugging away. The key was really the last stop. The guys got me out fifth. We just got outrun basically. We’re encouraged to come back for the 600 and see what we can do then.
