Bank of America 500 Pit Note #3

DOUG RANDOLPH (crew chief for No. 43 Cheerios Dodge for driver Bobby Labonte): "That was a really good lap that Bobby put down for us and it's really got our weekend off to a great start. I'm not sure if that's going to be good enough to beat Jimmie Johnson for the pole but it's still a great lap."

KENNY FRANCIS (Team manager for No. 9 Dodge Dealers car driven by Kasey Kahne): "That was a good, solid lap for us. Our car was pretty good and we're really happy with that effort. We tried to loosen it up before qualifying but I think we went a little too far."

RYAN NEWMAN (No. 12, Penske/Alltell Dodge) - Pole winner - "Today was all about qualifying and doing what we had to do. You get to a point where the balance doesn't matter as long as everything's safe and NASCAR has done a good job of managing that. Maybe some people just might say I'm not as good a race car driver as I am a qualifier because I don't ever win from the pole when I start on the pole. I had a lot of fun in the dirt race (World of Outlaws Dirt Late Model race at The Dirt Track @ Charlotte) last night (Oct. 10, he finished 11h) and I'd like to do some more of that, but those guys are awful good at what they do."
