Charlotte Media to go Head-to-Head in School Bus Slobberknocker Tuesday Night at the Jack in the Box Summer Shootout Series
Charlotte-area media will trade paint in 13-ton machines around the frontstretch quarter-mile in the Media Mayhem school bus slobberknocker during Week 3 of the Jack in the Box Summer Shootout Series on Tuesday night at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
In 2013, rookie school bus driver Brandon Davidow, from CW-affiliate WCCB, picked up the victory. On the final restart after several cautions for rollovers, Davidow got the jump on WBTV meteorologist and two-time bus race champ Al Conklin and pulled out front. They got together heading to the finish line, but it was Davidow who came out on top in his first-ever bus race.
This year, Davidow and Conklin will return to duel for the title and they'll be joined by Matthew East, from Time Warner Cable News, radio personalities Kris Stevens from 96.9 the Kat and Otis from Kiss 95.1, and meteorologist Rob Eicher from first-time competitor FOX 46, as well as representatives from WSOC-TV and NBC Charlotte.
Tickets for the Jack in the Box Summer Shootout Series are $7 for adults and are available in advance at the speedway ticket office or at Gates 4 and 5 the night of the event. Kids 13 and under get in free. Spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with preliminary action starting at 5:10 p.m. Opening ceremonies are at 6:45 p.m. and feature races are scheduled to conclude by approximately 10 p.m.
New this year, fans can now watch recaps on television. A 30-minute recap show will air in the Charlotte area on CW-affiliate WCCB, channel 11 on Time Warner Cable, at 1 p.m. on the Saturday following the Tuesday-night event. Nationally, fans can see a 30-minute recap show on popular cable TV network MAVTV on Thursdays.
