Fans will experience an iconic blast from the past as the Charlotte Autofair presented by Camping World will be home to many historic and eye-catching automobiles next week. Among other displays, including a collection of some of the wildest and wackiest machines every built, will be the original, famed 1969 Chuck Miller “Red Baron.”
Originally unveiled in the swinging 1960s, the Red Baron has captivated generations with its fiery red exterior and unparalleled charisma. The creation of this hot rod began in the mid-1960s when Tom Daniel designed an t-bucket hot rod model car that was displayed at the Chicago Toy Fair in 1967. The model had children saving up pennies and dimes to purchase a monogram kit for themselves to build this one-of-a-kind automobile. As the toy’s popularity soared, Chuck Miller at Styline Customs was commissioned to bring it to life at a full-size custom. Now, this classic beauty is revving its engines once again, ready to mesmerize fans at the Autofair with its timeless presence.
In addition to this amazing piece of hot rod car culture, the Showcase Pavilion will feature a bevy of unique exhibits and displays celebrating the history, artistry and innovation of the automobile:
Best of the Best: The crème de la crème of automobiles will turn heads when the Showcase Pavilion welcomes multiple award-winning machines from some of the nation’s top shows.
An innovative 2022 Ford GT Rogers and a 1909 Hudson steeped in history will be among the automotive marvels on display. The 2022 Ford GT Rogers represents the epitome of modern engineering and performance, with its two-seat mid-engine design. First released in 2005 and later reimagined with a second edition in 2017, production continued until 2022.
The 1909 Hudson embodies a rich heritage of craftsmanship, transporting visitors back to the dawn of automotive history. This partnership of past and present gives fans the chance to relish the enhancements that automobiles have gone through over the years.
Wild and Wacky: Fans are in for a wild ride when they set their eyes on a truly unique collection of cars that can only be described as eccentric. Among the standout stars, the Chevrolet “Blastro” Van shows the true meaning of unique. Based on a 1985 Astro Van, this custom creation is anything but a traditional minivan. With its 526-cubic-inch pro-mod racing engine capable of 2,200 horsepower, the street-legal speedster was built by Tom Richey over the course of 14 years.
60th Anniversary of the Mustang: Embark on a journey through six decades of the classic American muscle in a special 60th anniversary display of the Ford Mustang. Fans can take in an up-close look at a 2019 Bullit Mustang GT and a 1968 Mustang GT 500, two of the standout vehicles on display in the Showcase Pavilion.
The 2019 Bullit is a Steve McQueen Limited Edition, created through a partnership between McQueen’s son, Chad, and McQueen Racing. The rare ‘Stang is No. 78 of only 300.
The 1968 Mustang GT 500 was an inspiration of the 1967 Eleanor’s bodywork and a custom headlight panel. Eleanor was made popular by the 2000 Touchstone Pictures film “Gone in Sixty Seconds,” starring Nicolas Cage.

The AutoFair will transform the famed 1.5-mile speedway throughout the weekend. The latest technology, trends, parts and products will fill the Manufacturer’s Midway. Guests can ride shotgun along the infield road course with Ford Performance Racing and explore the latest from the world of RVing in an all-new Camping World display. The reconfigured swap meet, hosted by the Hornet’s Nest Region AACA, will provide a wide array of hard-to-find parts and memorabilia.

Single-day tickets start at $10 for adults. Admission is FREE for children 12 and under with an adult. Tickets are available online at CharlotteMotorSpeedway.com or at the gate. Attendees can upgrade their AutoFair experience to include high-end hospitality in the Champions Pavilion, featuring private appearances by industry leaders, food, VIP parking and more.
