A quick summer storm Tuesday afternoon couldn't stop the action at Round Three of the Jack in the Box Summer Shootout Series. Sir Purr, of the Carolina Panthers, ran away with the win in the Mascot Mania go-kart race and Daniel Hemric picked up his second win in a row in the Legends Car Pro division, while Ryan Mackintosh won the Legends Car Semi-Pro race.

Under beautiful skies, the racing action was red hot at Round 2 of the Jack in the Box Summer Shootout Series presented by HearUSA. Daniel Hemric, William Byron and Dawson Cram each took home a trophy. Fans were also treated to a special X Games-style exhibition to promote Charlotte's X Games bid, as well as an impressive school bus slobberknocker.

It was a wild and crazy start to the 20th annual Jack in the Box Summer Shootout Series, as Tyler Green, Rodney Tharp and John Holleman picked up wins. In addition, Darin Roberts of Carl A. Furr Elementary took home the trophy in the first of two nights of principal school bus races on the frontstretch quarter-mile oval of Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Denny Hamlin won the pole for Sunday's 54th running of the Coca-Cola 600 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Hamlin drew a late qualifying number and proceeded to shatter the existing track record. He ran a lap of 195.624 mph in claiming his second career pole at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The 2013 zMAX Dragway track champions were decided and Kyle Oliver was crowned King of the Track Saturday, giving him bragging rights to accompany his berth to the NHRA bracket finals. More than 200 competitors came from states across the region, including West Virginia, Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee, in addition to those from North Carolina.
