The Bojangles' Summer Shootout, the world's premier grassroots racing event, begins its exciting 23rd season of bumper-to-bumper racing action with a bang on Tuesday, June 14 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, with a full slate of entertainment including the first night of Legends Cars and Bandoleros racing on the frontstretch quarter-mile as well as a school bus race featuring members of the North Carolina Public Transit Association.

NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers Dale Earnhardt Jr., Joey Logano, David Ragan and Kurt and Kyle Busch honed their skills with valuable seasoning in Legends Cars before they moved to full-sized stock cars. Rising NASCAR Camping World Truck Series star Daniel Hemric, road-racing sensation Sean Rayhall and dirt late model standout Jonathan Davenport also used the Bojangles' Summer Shootout to climb the racing ladder.

Some of the drivers to keep an eye on this year include 15-year-old Austin Green, the son of 1994 NASCAR XFINITY Series champion David Green, 19-year-old Tyler Truex - whose cousin, Martin, won last month's Coca-Cola 600 - and Carson and Caden Kvapil, the sons of NASCAR Camping World Truck Series regular Travis Kvapil.

Tuesday's school bus race includes eight state public transit drivers ready to put their lead feet to the test. The field, which is in Concord this week for the North Carolina Public Transit Association Expo consists of:

Jason Woznac - TransDev

George Linney - Greensboro Transit Authority

Adam Fox - CTS Software

Michael Blakeney - CK Rider

Angel Gentry - Go Durham

Carol Long - OUTS

Bill Barlow - Atkins Global

Kelly Blazey - FAST
