While the Wild West came to life in Cook Out Summer Shootout Bandolero action, a hard-rolling storm halted the Round 7 rodeo. Officials wrangled the racers and rounded up the fans, setting the stage for a Texas-sized doubleheader on Tuesday, July 14, with postponed Legend Car features kicking off the day before a full night of Round 8 racing and Lug Nut's Birthday Party.
Pit gates will open at 10 a.m., with the postponed Legend Car features beginning at 1 p.m. Grandstands will not be open during the makeup races. Fans holding tickets from Tuesday night's postponed Round 7 event may use them for admission to the July 14 program, with front gates opening at 5 p.m. for Round 8 festivities featuring the fan-favorite Mascot Mania go-kart race around America's Home for Racing's legendary quarter-mile.
Before the rain arrived, NASCAR Cup Series driver Todd Gilliland brought some extra star power to America's Home for Racing, meeting with fans and signing autographs during a special appearance. Drivers also continued their push toward Cook Out Summer Shootout championships as the season heads toward its final rounds.
Bandolero drivers put on a show worthy of the Wild West, with Carson Sherman capturing his third consecutive Outlaws Division victory, while Ryan Hoffacker claimed the Beginner Bandolero win and Maverick Bradshaw rode to victory in the Bandits division.
SHERMAN RIDES OFF WITH ANOTHER WIN
Carson Sherman wasn't horsin' around in the Outlaws Division, turning in another commanding performance en route to his third straight victory. Starting alongside polesitter Jagger Williams, Sherman quickly seized the lead and never looked back, eventually lapping multiple competitors before cruising to Victory Lane.
Carson Cauble delivered one of the night's biggest charges, rallying from 11th to finish second, while Lucas McFall secured third after a hard-fought battle for the final podium position.
The win is Sherman's fifth in seven Outlaws Division starts this season and keeps him atop the series points standings.
