Famous names like Earnhardt, Petty and Waltrip have enjoyed the spoils of victory at Charlotte Motor Speedway. In Tuesday's Bojangles' Summer Shootout, a local media member will accomplish the same feat - after defeating all challengers in a no-holds-barred school bus slobberknocker during Media Mayhem at America's Home for Racing.

Six media members traded their suits and ties for firesuits and helmets in pursuit of glory. It's a bumper-banging, low-speed, high-energy show no fan can afford to miss. WBTV Meteorologist "Hurricane" Al Conklin - the winner of an incredible four Media Mayhem trophies, including the last two - returns in a bid for an unprecedented third consecutive bus racing crown.

"I've won so many times, I've lost count, but that doesn't mean I can't find room on my mantle for another trophy," Conklin said. "Get out of the way - hurricane warning in effect."

With an updated rules package in place to keep buses closely bunched up and avoid another Conklin cruise, this year's Media Mayhem spectacle promises to be an instant classic.

The 2019 Media Mayhem field includes:

·         Zach Aldridge, WCCB

·         Al Conklin, WBTV

·         Courtney Davis, Spectrum News

·         Will Kunkel, WJZY

·         Andrew Perdue, WSOC

·         J.D. Stone, WROQ

In addition to Media Mayhem, fans will see the rising stars of motorsports competing in WIX Filters Legend Cars and Bandoleros as they climb the racing ladder in hopes of joining luminaries including Joey Logano and Chase Elliott - who graduated from the Shootout to NASCAR's highest level.

Gates open at 5 p.m. Tuesday with opening ceremonies beginning at approximately 6 p.m.
