The Greatest Place to See the Race earned one of the motorsports industry's highest honors this week at the Performance Racing Industry Trade Show in Indianapolis. Charlotte Motor Speedway received The Race Track Business Conference's "Outstanding Facility of the Year" award presented by National Speedway Directory and Track Guide.

The iconic motorsports complex became only the fourth venue to earn the prestigious award thanks to its versatile offerings across Charlotte Motor Speedway, zMAX Dragway and The Dirt Track at Charlotte - which this year included constructing a world-renowned, purpose-built motocross course at The Dirt Track for the Monster Energy MXGP of the Americas in September.

"Charlotte Motor Speedway has been a longtime innovator in motorsports facility development," National Speedway Directory Publisher, Director and President Timothy Frost said. "Charlotte's wide array of competitive racing circuits with varied surfaces and configurations has transformed the speedway into one of the most entertaining venues in the world."

The speedway's wide variety of fan-friendly, captivating attractions includes three major NASCAR race weekends, two NHRA events, two World of Outlaws weekends and numerous car shows and exhibitions throughout the year as well as a six-week Speedway Christmas light show. Additionally, Charlotte is the only venue to host playoff events in NASCAR's premier series and the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series.

"We are honored to receive the Outstanding Facility of the Year award," said Shaun Johnson, the executive director of operations for Charlotte Motor Speedway. "The entire Charlotte Motor Speedway team works hard to offer a wide variety of fun and excitement for our fans and racers."

Previous award winners were Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 2013, National Corvette Museum Motorsports Park in 2014 and Daytona International Speedway in 2015.
