Alexis DeJoria Sets New zMAX Dragway Record in Front of Sellout Saturday Crowd at NHRA 4-Wide Nationals Presented by Lowes Foods¬
Alexis DeJoria thrilled one of zMAX Dragway's largest-ever crowds on Saturday, posting a Funny Car track-record 3.934-second pass at 321.04 mph in front of a sellout audience to earn the No. 1 seed for Sunday's electrifying eliminations that conclude the thrilling, 40,000-horsepower NHRA 4-Wide Nationals presented by Lowes Foods.
DeJoria's Kalitta Motorsports Toyota Camry will face Robert Hight, Tim Wilkerson and Jeff Diehl, in the first round of eliminations at noon.
"To actually finish the day in the No. 1 spot and get a track record, that's just incredible," said DeJoria, who topped Matt Hagan's ET record set on Friday. "I'm so proud of my guys. They really give me good equipment. It makes it easy - well, easier."
Steve Torrence's 3.736-second, 326.48-mph pass bested J.R. Todd by .007 seconds to earn the No. 1 spot for Top Fuel eliminations. Torrence timed out in his final pass of the day, but still took the pole.
"We feel confident going into tomorrow," Torrence said. "We've got a really good race car."
Mooresville, North Carolina's Greg Anderson set the pace in Pro Stock drills with a 6.576-second pass at 210.41 mph.
"We upped our game," Anderson said. "We feel pretty good about that, but tomorrow's a whole other day with a whole other set of circumstances. Anything can happen on race day."
No one beat Eddie Krawiec's scintillating 6.818-second, 192.85-mph Pro Stock Motorcycle pass from Friday, leaving Krawiec on the pole for Sunday's sun-filled eliminations.
"I've got a pretty bad-to-the-bone Harley Davidson right now," Krawierc said. "I'm excited to be running it."
