Kurt Busch took part in a ribbon-cutting and unveiling ceremony for a new infield pedestrian bridge on Wednesday at the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL™, but the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series title contender's objective is to lead the field under the bridge during Sunday's Bank of America ROVAL™ 400.

Busch joined City of Concord Mayor Bill Dusch and Charlotte Motor Speedway Executive Vice President Greg Walter in welcoming the first campers to the infield while unveiling the 40,000-pound Bank of America-branded, 80-foot-long, nine-foot-wide pedestrian bridge that will give fans special access to unique infield viewing areas as well as a Circle K convenience store. The bridge also connects infield campers back to the Papa John's and Bojangles' locations in the infield.

"The pedestrian bridge gets fans from the pit area side to the infield section of the road course, where they can take in different vantage points," Busch said. "That's what it's all about: creating newness and fun things for the fans to do within the same venue here at Charlotte Motor Speedway. It's a big ticket to be part of, whether you're a fan, a sponsor or even NBC on the promotion side of it. As a racer and someone who's in the playoffs, we've got to play it cool. We've got to look at it as a standard race weekend, get our points and advance to the next round.

"But then, I sit there as a racer going, 'This is an inaugural event. This is big.' We haven't had any big, inaugural events like this in a while. It reminds me of when the (NASCAR Camping World Truck Series) first went to Eldora, or when the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series went to Indianapolis, (Jeff Gordon) won the race and it changed the course of NASCAR. This race could change the course."
