(August 21, 2015) - The AutoFair is a legendary event in its' own right, so it's only natural that the food served matches the excitement of the historic automobiles and die-hard automobile fans that are in attendance. Each and every time the AutoFair rolls around, the folks at Levy Restaurants bring to the table new one-of-a-kind menu items to wow the crowd and their taste buds.
New this year is the Sweet Potato Casserole Funnel Cake, an addition sure to be a hit with children and adults alike. Just one funnel cake has 1,098 calories and satisfies the biggest sweet tooth by including sweet potatoes blended with funnel cake batter along with cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, and ground cloves to create the doughy treat. The delicious dessert is topped with marshmallow cream and pecans marinated in maple syrup, sweet potato, vanilla and brown sugar to give the funnel cake the rich and warm taste of the autumn season.
The Sweet Potato Casserole Funnel Cake will be added to the extensive list of innovative menu items from past Charlotte Motor Speedway events. A few past favorites include: Candied-Bacon Lollipops, Crank Shaft Burrito, 6-lb Speedway Picnic Burger, Chocolate-Covered Bacon and the Funnel Bacakonator.
Each year over 100,000 spectators attend the AutoFair with eyes hungry for beautifully maintained classic automobiles and stomachs hungry and eager to see what Charlotte Motor Speedway and Levy Restaurants will introduce as the fun fair food of the weekend. The Sweet Potato Funnel Cake can be tasted and fans can also enjoy over 7,000 vendor displays, a manufacturers' midway, and a kids' play zone at the Fall AutoFair, September 24-27.
