The star power has risen for the Oct. 21-23 Goodguys 23rd Pennzoil Southeastern Nationals at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Two-time Indianapolis 500 winner Al Unser Jr. will join Robby Unser in racing for Team Speedway in the Goodguys AutoCross series, a tire-squealing test of driving skill against a colorful backdrop of more than 2,500 vintage hot rods, custom cars, muscle cars and trucks on Charlotte's iconic 1.5-mile superspeedway.

Robby Unser, a former Indy car driver, nine-time Pikes Peak Hill Climb winner and the championship leader in the Pro class of the Goodguys AutoCross series, will wheel Team Speedway's G-Comp 1965 Chevrolet Nova. "Little Al" will pilot the Team Speedway 1970 Chevrolet Camaro. Team Speedway, sponsored by Speedway Motors in Lincoln, Nebraska, is a long-time partner of Goodguys events and a company whose roots are based in racing - much like the Unser family.

Al Unser Jr. has been hailed as one of the most dynamic and successful drivers in American auto racing, with Indianapolis 500 victories in 1992 and '94 as well as two Indy car titles and a legacy of racing spanning sprint cars, open-wheel cars and NASCAR.

The Goodguys AutoCross competition will be held all three days of the Pennzoil Southeastern Nationals. The Pro Class will run at the top of the hour each day during the race sessions. AutoCross will run on Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Goodguys Pennzoil Southeastern Nationals gates are open Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
