Ryan Blaney transitions to Team Penske after a strong sophomore season that included his first career victory at Pocono Raceway and a berth in the Round of 8 in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs.

After two successful years behind the wheel for the Wood Brothers, Blaney will now compete for another organization with a rich history in the sport.

He discussed climbing behind the wheel for Roger Penske and carrying on his organization's legacy Wednesday at the 36th annual NASCAR Media Tour hosted by Charlotte Motor Speedway at the Charlotte Convention Center

"I've been so lucky to drive for some great teams over the past few years," Blaney said. "With the Wood Brothers and now to drive a Cup car full-time for Roger Penske is a dream of mine. Those are two of the most historic teams and names in the sport. I've been lucky enough to get to drive for both of them now."

It won't be the first time Blaney has competed for the team at the Cup Series level. He made his debut in the No. 12 car in 2014 at Kansas Speedway.

Now as he returns, continuity among personnel could ease the transition.

"It shouldn't be a big adjustment, to be honest with you," Blaney said. "We have a lot of the same people we did last year. There's really only a handful of people that are new. It will really be seamless, which is really what you want. You don't want a huge change. I'm excited for the transition and it should be pretty simple."
